Before we start projecting week two let’s take a look back at how we did on the opening weekend…

Tommy vs. Alex - I got this one right with Tommy pulling out the victory.

Raj vs. Lance – I went with Lance this week but stupid Raj and his balanced attack ( no player had more than 21 points) defeated the fantasy god.

Kyle vs. Steve – Steve and Drew Brees got me a big win here.

Kevin vs. Ali – I predicted Ali would win and win he did. Talk about a smack down.

Bollin vs. John – I picked against Bollin and it worked out as he stunk up the place. Bollin was the only player not to score 100 points in week one.

LIVE vs. Scott – I picked myself and I had one hell of a week. I managed to score the 3rd most points. Unfortunately stupid LIVE scored the second most points, what a jerk.

Not too bad for week one. I managed to go 4-2. I like it.

Before we move on to our week 2 predictions let me update you on the teasers. I lost the first one but then doubled down on the Sunday night and double Monday night games. I currently have a little college teaser going. I hit the LSU game on Thursday. I have Oklahoma +7 and Illinois +9 left to win the bet. As for this weeks NFL teaser I have Browns +8 vs. Colts, Tampa Bay +13 vs. Vikings, Redskins +6.5 vs. Cardinals.

Here it is, the moment you have been waiting for… SCOTT VS. BOLLIN

Momma Bollin was asked last week why she continued to have relations with Mr. Illiniseoul despite the objections of the rest of the Bollin clan. All she had to say way “Illiniseoul is hung like a horse and goes down like the rodeo”. What can I say, the woman does not lie. As for the match up, I don’t really think this one will be close. The crazy thing is that Julio Jones (my team) is going to outscore Bollin’s Roddy White this week because White will have Nhamdi (spelling?) on him all game. The one advantage Bollin had is taken away. ESPN sees this one 174 – 137 in favor of Illiniseoul. I can’t really argue with the 174 part but I think Bollin fails to reach 100 for the second straight week. Illiniseoul 175 – Bollin 94

Lance vs. Ali

Foster should be back for Ali this week which provides Ali even more fuel for the fantasy mack truck he has built. This team looks unstoppable. The only weakness is that A. J. Green may have to start this week with Nicks injury. Lance still does not stand a chance as he rosters no starting QB. Lance needs to make a move sooner than later before he is on the outside of the playoffs. Get it done Lance. ESPN has this Ali 179 – Lance 119. I can’t predict Ali to score more than me so I’ll score this one Lance 105 – Ali 174.

LIVE vs. LALLY

It is a battle of undefeated teams. It shapes up to be a nice match up. Henne and Fitz vs. Eli and Orton – advantage LIVE. Rice, Tolbert, and Thomas vs. Starks, Best, and McCoy – advantage Lally. This match-up may come down to the injury to Dez Bryant. If Lally plays this one wrong it could cost him the win. ESPN has it LIVE 180 – Lally 154. I think Lally plays it right and gets the win in a far lower scoring match than ESPN predicts. LIVE 138 – Lally 143

Kyle vs. Raj

At first glance it looks like Kyle may have a big advantage here, but Raj has Jay Cutler. Stop laughing, I’m serious. Cutler is going to be a top 5 QB in week 2. Mark it down. The Saints gave up a gillion passing yards in week one and are in no better shape going into week 2. I expect Collins and C. Johnson to continue to suck for Kyle. C. J. will not get his season going against the Ravens. ESPN had it Raj 160 – Kyle 150. I agree. Kyle 132 – Raj 137

Alex vs. John

Alex comes into this week as the underdog. It is easy to understand why. Alex is 0-1, John is 1-0. Alex has 7 players on the injury list, John has one. I do think Ryan and Big Ben will bounce back in week 2 for Alex but that will not be nearly enough. I’m calling this my LOCK OF THE WEEK. ESPN has it Alex 127 – John 151. I’ll score it Alex 95 – John 127.

Steve vs. Kevin

Steve has 2 of the best QBs in the league but I hate the rest of his team more and more every time I look at them. Woodhead, Cadillac, Ochocino, and Massaquio all have great names but none of them should be a starting fantasy player. If Calvin Johnson plays this week I believe Kevin will double up the score on Steve. ESPN has it Steve 143 – John 158. I don’t think it is that close. Steve 95 – Kevin 190.

Neverland Slumber Party vs. Bed Intruders

QB – E. Manning and Orton (tom) vs. Ryan and Big Ben (alex)

Everyone knows that Neckbeard was my favorite QB last year. I am not sold on him this year. He has a coach who likes to run the ball. In week 1 Orton faces a Raiders secondary that is underrated. Manning will be in a shootout against the Redskins. I’ll take the over at 42 points in this one. Should mean good things for Manning. Ryan is going to destroy the Bears in week one. I’m not sure if he can eclipse Drew Brees and hit the 30 point plateau but he should be close. I think Big Ben has a big game despite being on the road against the Ravens. Tom 30 – Alex 45

RB – McCoy, Best, Starks (Tom) vs. MJD, S. Jackson, Ingram (alex)

Starks outperformed Grant in week 1 and Ingram stunk up the place (yes, if you recall I predicted both. How about a round of applause? No… well can I at least get a cupcake?) I was recently told that McCoy scored double digit points in 11 games last year, I don’t care. I still think he is vastly overrated. The Rams will hold him under 12 points this week. Best is a guy I love this year (although I don’t have much to back that up. With the name best he has to be the best right?) and I expect him to put up good numbers against T.B. MJD will see a whole lot of men in the box this year. I don’t expect much here. I do expect a huge game from Jackson. Maybe I am too high on the Rams this year, but I simply see them as an explosive offense. Tom 38 – Alex 34

WR – Bryant, Fiz, Marshall (tom) vs. S. Johnson, Plaxico, Wayne (alex)

If Austin isn’t playing Sunday Bryant will have Revis on him all day. I think Bryant will see Revis on him either way so I don’t expect him to be great this week. Fitzgerald is my number 1 WR this year. I expect him to make me look good against the Panthers in week 1. WTF!!! How is Illinois going to have back to back delay of game penalties. I hate Ron Zook!!! FIRE ZOOK!!! What were we talking about? Oh yeah, Brandon Marshall. Miami is going to be behind against the Patriots so Marshall should get plenty of targets. TD ILLINI!!! Zook is the greatest!!!! Alex doesn’t have any bad match-ups for his WRs but I don’t like them all that much either. Stevie Johnson is going to be a stud this year and should be solid week 1. I have no faith in Collins getting the ball to Wayne. I similarly have no faith in Plaxico. Tom 48 – Alex 25

Other - Nothing to see here. Each team gets 20.

Tom 136 - Alex 124

Raj’s Rockets vs. Pop King’s Doc

QB – Romo and Cutler (Raj) vs. Garrard and Tebow (Lance)

Let the lost season for Lance begin. We all know the mythical qualities that Lance possesses in fantasy but this year is going to be his biggest challenge to date. For week 1 Lance has no starting QBs. At least there might be a package or 2 that Denver will run for Tebow. Always look on the bright side of life (whistle…). Raj got some bad news yesterday with Manning but at least in the short term he should be alright. I rode Cutler to a championship last year, perhaps Raj can do the same this season. Cutler is rated higher than Romo this week for me. I am not impressed with the Atlanta defense. I think Chicago will fall behind early against the new greatest show on turf, forcing them to throw the ball. Romo should face a whole lot of pressure from the Jets D. I see it as about 9 points for Romo and 14 for Cutler. Raj 23 – Lance 2

RB – Blount, Wells, Garcon (wr flex) (Raj) vs. F. Jones, AP, Gore (Lance)

If Lance is going to win week one, the RB position is where he will get it done. Raj has some terrible players and match-ups. Blount is going to be shut down by the Lions (similar to the way every girl at the club shuts down Raj on Friday nights… it’s a sad sight to see). Garcon lost his QB and will stink. Wells is not very good, but he does get the Panthers for week 1. Cardinals should be up big giving extra chances to Wells, which means more opportunity to show off his suckiness and fubleitis. Frank Gore may single-handedly outscore Raj’s RBs. The Seattle defense has a lot to prove and they won’t do it in week one. Felix Jones is also a guy with a lot to prove. He has looked great in the pre-season but don’t buy the hype just yet. AP is great. I don’t think it will matter that the Vikings will be behind the whole game. AP will still get his.

WR – Austin, Harvin, Maclin (Raj) vs. Holmes, Britt, Simpson (Lance)

Austin did not fully practice on Friday making him a question mark for Sunday. To make things worse he would be matched up against Revis as well. Harvin should have a nice game. If the Vikings are going to have any chance Harvin will need to make a handful of big plays. Perhaps a reverse or wildcat play. Maclin is a wildcard for me. Reports are that he is healthy and ready to play, but he has only had 3 weeks of pre-season to get ready. Lance also has some questions here. Holmes has been sick this week but could have a huge game against a crappy Cowboys secondary. Simpson (yeah I actually looked him up and did a little research) had two huge games at the end of the season but with a rookie QB and a sneaky good Cleveland defense I don’t see a big game here. I expect the Titans to run the ball a lot but Britt should be able to capture a couple of big plays from play action in week 1 against a horrible Jaguars team. Raj 32 – Lance 41

Other – Whitten (Raj) vs. Clark (Lance)

I am taking Whitten here although I am getting the feeling that Clark may prove something to us here. Collins is going to have to throw the ball against the Texans. If Collins is going to have any success it will be throwing to Clark. Raj 30 – Lance 27

Raj 101 – Lance 125

Drinkin nDrivin With Braylon vs. In a Van Down by the Rivers

QB – Campbell and Collins (Kyle) vs. Rivers and Brees (Steve)

I don’t really feel like I need to do a write up here. There really is no comparison. Campbell has never really been all that good. Although, as I have pointed out before, this is the first time he has had the same team and offensive coordinator in back to back years. That being said, I want to see it before I believe it. As for Collins, I am hearing some excitement about Collins being able to produce good numbers this year in Indy. I simply don’t understand this. Collins was not good last year at 41, why would he be better at 42 on a new team? Steve has some nasty QBs. Watching the game last night I felt like Rodgers outplayed Brees. Believe it or not, Brees scored 5 more points than Rodgers in week 1. Rivers seems primed for a big week as well against the Vikings. Looks like trouble for Kyle. Kyle 10 – Steve 52

RB – Johnson, Greene, Sims-Welker (flex wr) (Kyle) vs. Forte, Moreno, Woodhead (steve)

It begins so promising for Kyle with the news that Chris Johnson will be in the fold for week 1. We then see that his next best RB is Shonn Greene (for the record who gives their kid the name Shawn and spells it Shonn? Or is it pronounced Shown? Either way it is misspelled and now the guy has to spell his first name to people constantly. Horrible parenting move.) I never have liked Greene (oh, snap.. yeah I’m helping Ali bring it back… he spells his last name wrong too!!!) and I never will like Greene. I kind of like Sims-Welker this year, but in game one of the year with a new offense I am not buying. I forgot to mention that he may have the real good CB who used to be on the Raiders lined up against him (I can’t spell his name and since I just ranted about spelling I’m not going to try.) I think Forte is playing Sunday, I could look it up but I’m lazy. If he does play he won’t keep the Bears close to the Falcons but he should rack up some fantasy points. Moreno stinks. Woodhead is a wildcard here but I’m not expecting great things. Kyle 25 – Steve 22

WR - Jackson, Jennings, Ward (Kyle) vs. Lloyd, Colston, Ocho (steve)

Jennings had some very nice plays while compiling 22 points Thursday. I expect about the same from Jackson. I have no idea what to expect from Hines Ward. I get the feeling that he is done, and since it appears I was right about Manning (yeah, I said all that stuff before the Manning news came out today) maybe I should quit writing and head to the casino. I feel like Colston should give up all 12 of his fantasy points for that fumble on the first drive of the game. Lloyd (another Illini) may struggle against a sneaky good Raider defense. Ocho almost got cut as I ranted about yesterday, so he will stink. I see it as Kyle 46 – Steve 25

Other – Kasey kicked in a solid 10 points while the Packers D only got 5. Steve has Gates on the roster so he gets the advantage here. Kyle 26 – Steve 35

Kyle 107 – Steve 134

All Stars on Paper vs. Pika Booooooo

QB – Rodgers and Hill (Kevin) vs. Vick and Stafford (Ali). Let’s just start out by saying that I believe Stafford is able to play the entire game, meaning Hill will not play for Kevin. Despite that I think the amazing game by Rodgers (24 points) will match up well against Vick and Stafford. I think the Rams defense is vastly overrated. My perdiction is that one of Ali’s QBs will not make it through the game. Since I already said that Stafford will survive I guess that means that Vick won’t. I know Ali said he wanted to wait until after week 1 to trade Vick, but he might want to move him now. I am aboard the Rams bandwagon and there are good seats still available. The Rams win this game and knock out Vick like Douglas/Tyson. Give me Kevin 24 over ALI 22.

RB - McFadden, Turner, Williams (Kevin) vs. Jackson (I doubt think Foster plays), Hightower, R. Bush (ALI). Speaking of injuries, which of Kevin’s RBs will not make it through week one? I’m going to say Michael Turner. It should go something like this… First play from scrimmage Ryan hits Jones for a 80 yard TD. In the second series Turner runs all over the Bears collecting 51 yards and a TD. In the third series Devon Hester losses his mind, takes off his cleat, and pounds it into the skull of Turner. Turner is out 4 weeks with a concussion and Hester is suspended permanently from the NFL. At least Turner got you 11 points. Hightower is going to be the highest rated fantasy RB after week one. Write it down, take a picture, I don’t give a **** (what was that guys name from Friday? You know the skinny kid who smoked a lot of weed and never did another funny thing in his life? Oh well. Dang it I’m going to look it up… Chris Tucker!!! Ha!!! Didn’t even have to look it up.) The Giants entire defense is injured and Hightower is awesome. The problem for Ali is that Bush and Jackson both stink so Hightower’s 35 points is going to have to carry the day. Kevin 38 Ali 47

WR – Megatron, V. Jackson, and the crappy mike williams (Kevin) vs. Nicks, S. Moss, Smith (ALI). Good math-ups and great players is a solid combination for Kevin. Johnson and Jackson should go wild in week 1. Nicks is a beast and the Giants should be behind, that smells like success for Ali. S. Moss is going to be a big part of the whooping the Redskins put on the Giants (speaking of whooping… do yall remember the song “whoop there it is”? No? Well here is a link to the music video ). Kevin 42 – Ali 34

Other – Graham was great for Ali last night putting up 15 points while the Saints did not perform for Kevin, netting him a measly 4 points. Kevin 25 – Ali 35

Kevin 129 – 138

Rollin with Bollin vs. Schaub on the Kolb

QB – Bradford and Freeman (Bollin) vs. Kolb and Schaub (Johnny). I really like the Philly and Detroit denfenses this year which does not bode well for Bradford and Kolb. Despite the upside of Bradford this year I think the Rams will work the ground game this week. Although Freeman may see a lot of dirt in his face mask this week after being knocked to the ground by the Lions line he should be able to hit a couple big plays. I love the Cardinals vs. Carolina this week. I think the Cardinal running game will be innefective, forcing Kolb to throw the ball around. I’m not high on Schaub this week. I actually think the Texans get up early and go to the ground game. I’m giving the advantage to Johnny here. Bollin 21 – Johnny 26

RB – Grant, Law Firm, and Matthews (Bollin) vs. Mendenhall, Addai, Thomas (wr flex) (Johnny). Grant stunk it up last night, as predicted by yours truly. Expect more of the same this year Bollin. Speaking of stinking it up, Matthews plays this week. The Pats should dominate the Dolphins which may mean good things for the Law Firm and finally some good news for Bollin. Johnny leads with Mendenhall (Mr. Illini) as he faces the Ravens defense in week 1, even Mr. Illini can’t run wild on the Ravens. Addai could be in for a very nice game against a horrible Texans defense and Thomas may be the only hope Miami has against the Patriots. Big advantage here for Johnny. Bollin 32 – Johnny 42

WR – White, Wallace, and Ford (Bollin) vs. Welker, Manningham, and Williams (Johnny). WOW! I love these match ups. It’s like Christmas morning with mama Bollin waiting for me naked under the mistletoe, trust me fallas it doesn’t get much better than that. White is going to destroy the Bears secondary. He could go for 30 points. I’m betting Wallace is able to break free from the Ravens defense for a couple big plays. The coming out party for Jacoby Ford starts on Sunday against a Denver team that is not ready for what is about to hit them. Welker appears to be healthy which is bad news for Miami but great news for Brady and Johnny. Speaking of coming out parties, Manningham has just arrived and he has brought his friend Mike Williams with him. I previously stated that I like the Lions defensive line but at least a few times on Sunday the Bucs line should hold up just long enough to get Williams a couple of bombs. This is a tough one. Bollin 60 – Johnny 65

Other – Not much to see here. I’ll give each team 25 points.

Bollin 138 – 158

It’s time to break down the match-ups for week one. We will start with the Defending Champions of course.

Champion Juiced Penguins vs. Steve Live Domination

QB – The Penguins are bringing out Brady @ Miami and Hasselbeck @ JAC. Live is bringing Cassel vs. Buffalo and Fitzpatrick @ K.C. to the table. I can’t see any reason that Brady doesn’t light up the Dolphins. I expect the Tenn/Jax game to be low scoring, so that does not bode well for Hasselbeck. The Bills defense looks somewhat improved. With an injury to Cassel I expect the Chiefs to run the ball even more than normal, although I do expect them to run it effectively. That should put the Bills behinds forcing Fitz to throw the ball. If I had to pick one QB in this game I would go with Fitz. All that being said I will take Brady to outscore both of the LIVE QBs. It’s quality over quantity. I’ll take Bollins mom over LIVE’s three mutated looking sisters every day of the week and twice on Sunday, which by the way is an annual tradation for me at the Bollin household. Penguins 32 – LIVE 22

RB – Charles, Hillis, and Bradshaw (Penguins) vs. Rice, Thomas, and Bess (flex WR) (LIVE). I like all the match-ups for the Penguin backs this week. Although I do think the Cincy and Bills defenses have improved I am not sold on them stopping Charles and Hillis. Pierre Thomas had a decent game against the Packers. He would have had 6 more points if he was used at the goaline instead of stupid Ingram. Bess should be in line for a big game against the Patriots. The Dolphins should be behind forcing them to pass. Rice looks primed for a big year but I will expect great things to happen when he doesn’t have to go up against the Steelers defense. Advantage Penguins here. Penguins 58 – 45

WR - Bowe, Jones, and Meachem (Penguins) vs. Johnson, Boldin, and Edwards (LIVE). Meahem had a very nice game against the Packers. He racked up 18 big time points with a TD. I like the Jones match up at Chicago. The Bears secondary is as week as Lance’s QB situation this year. Andre Johnson should have no problem getting open this week against Indy. I would like Johnson more if Peyton were the QB and the game looked like more of a shoot out but he should still produce here. Before the big game by Meachem last night I would have given the advantage here to LIVE but I am going to call it a draw. Penguins 42 – LIVE 42

Other - Finley, Crosby, Lions (Penguins) vs. Winslow, Ravens, and Grotkowski (LIVE). Finley and Crosby didn’t do much in week one combine for about 14 points. The Lions match-up at TB this week, which doesn’t look to be great. The Ravens have to play at Pit so I don’t love that one either. Winslow has a nagging injury that caused him to miss some practice and I expect Grotkowski to get more extra points than field goals. I will call a draw here as well. Penguins 20 – LIVE 20

In a Van Down By The Rivers

QB – (K) Rivers (22), Brees (53), Grossman (2)

I love Rivers this year. I have him at #4 behind Brees, Brady, and Rodgers. At $22 it is a great keeper value. Brees at 53 doesn’t have a whole lot of value but he is a great QB. To compare, I think he is a much better value than Rodgers at 65 and slightly worse than Brady at 48. Certainly the combo of Rivers and Brees is stellar. I really like Grossman if he can hold onto the job. I think he has the potential to be a high end #2 QB in this format.

RB – (K) Forte (18), Moreno (21), Woodhead (1), Hardesty (1), Williams (1), Brown (1)

Forte is another nice keeper at 18 for this team. I don’t like the Bears this year and it is mainly due to the offensive line, which should mean bad news for a RB but in this case they mostly have trouble with pass protection. This may actually help Forte catch more balls out of the backfield which should offset his decreased rushing yards. Moreno is who he is. I think we are beyond the hype that he carried with him the last few years. He is a low end number 2 starter without much upside. The rest of these guys are a crapshoot. Woodhead may catch enough balls to be worth a flex spot, but it is going to be very difficult to predict when to start him. I don’t know much about Hardesty but Brown and Williams certainly seem well past their primes.

WR – (K) Lloyd (3), Colston (25), Ocho (12), Jones (1)

The WR position looks very thin to me. Lloyd (a former Fighting Illini) finally had a break out year. Orton returning as the starter should certainly help, but you have to be worried about him being a one year wonder. I am way down on Colston this year. If Meachum steps up as I predict and Graham looking primed for a big year Colston may see a diminished roll, especially considering Brees likes to spread the ball around. 25 certainly seems too high. Two of my biggest busts this year are Ocho and Grant. The common denominator for them is that they were both nearly cut in the preseason. Ocho would have been worth a few bucks as a flyer but 12 is way over the mark. James Jones is a guy that I like for the Packers but he will need to see an injury to someone in front of him to truely be a factor.

TE – Gates (26) was drafted here. I love this guy. He is one of my elite 3 TEs. Obviously the question is his health. He is no spring chicken but when he is on he is the best in the game.

Schaub on the Kolb

QB – Kolb (16), Schaub (30), Dalton (1)

At the time he was drafted Schaub was the best QB out there in a tier by himself. I think 30 is too much for him but I can’t really argue either. I would not be shocked to see him finish in the top 5 but can’t imagine a scenerio where he is outside the top 12 QBs making him a very solid #1 QB. Dalton is a rookie who by all reports looked terrible in the preseason. The just doesn’t appear ready to start in the NFL and without a workhorse at RB to start the season he is in trouble. I am still not sure what to make of Kolb. The one big throw he made to Fitz in the preseason appeared to me to be underthrown. I just haven’t seen enough of the guy to have an opinion one way or the other. Plus he was injured last year which opened the way for Vick. Big time risk verses reward here.

RB – (K) Mendenhall (32), Addai (12), Lynch (20)

Only 3 RBs on the roster and all of them have question marks. We have seen Fighting Illini Mendenhall injured before. Mr. Mendenhall had well over 400 touches last season. I am worried about my boy. That being said, if he plays 16 games this year he has the talent and superior Illinois education to be the #1 fantasy back this season. Addai was a guy I had pretty high on my board. I wanted to grab him for less than 10 bucks. If I had a higher budget at the time he was drafted I might have gone for him. The story with Addai, as always is injury but this year he doesn’t even have Manning to steer the ship. The more I write about Manning the more I get the feeling we won’t see Peyton on the field this season. I don’t like Lynch at 5. I really don’t like him at 20. This team would look a whole lot better with two RBs at $12/13 and one less WR and no Lynch. RB depth will be this teams downfall.

WR – (K) Welker (24), (K) Manningham (3), Williams (tb) (28), Knox (5), Thomas (5), Nelson (5)

One of these recievers is going to have to be moved for RB depth, bottom line. Welker should be good, as he always is in a ppr format. Manningham is my favorite break out WR this year. It would not surprise me at all at the end of the year to see him as a top 5 WR. The TB Williams could be a break out player this year although 28 is way too much for my taste to find out. All told, it is a nice group of starters. I love what this team has on the bech as well. 3 guys in Knox, Thomas, and Nelson that are all high upside lottery tickets. That is exactly what you want in a draft like this. The bonus is that if one of these guys hits they will be an excellent keeper canidate as well.

Other – Olson (1) is the TE here. The best thing for Olson is getting out of Chicago where Cutler and Martz simply never look for the TE. Even if Olson doesn’t work out in Carolina there are plenty of guys on the bench to snatch up.

Drinkin NDrivin with Braylon

QB – Campbell (12), Collins (1), Jackson (1)

Talk about a collection of really bad QBs. I guess Campbell could be better in Oakland this year. I believe this is the first time that he has been on the same team with the same offensive coordinator for two years in a row. Even in Manning is out for the year, as I now have convinced myself that he is, Collins is still 73 years old. Jackson is horrible. Just leave the spot open so that you don’t get negative points from this guy.

RB – Johnson (71), Greene (15), Murray (1), Snelling (1)

I am not afraid of the holdout by Johnson. He is still the most explostive RB in the NFL who has a chance to break it open every time he touches the ball. If Hasselbeck is respectable things could get very nice for Johnson. I don’t like Greene. Some do, but they are wrong. I don’t know anything about Murray, but I do know I don’t like Felix Jones so you got that going for you. I really like Snelling. You will have to wait a couple weeks until Turner is injured but you have found a gem here. More depth here would be nice.

WR – Jackson (37), Jennings (47), Ward (3), Mason (1), Jones (1), Sims-Welker (1)

Stars and Scrubs here. Jackson, if he doesn’t hold out, should be great. Jennings is a guy I have owned a lot in the past and he drives me crazy. He tends to dissapear at times, but he is still an elite player. Mason is too old. I don’t know a whole lot about Jones. Sims-Welker could be a great buy for $1. The jury is still out if he can mesh with Bradford. Again depth is going to hurt here, which is why the rest of us chose to keep 3 players. Not sure the no keeper strategy worked out so well.

Other – I would not have paid 5 for Lewis, Garrard or no Garrard. Plenty of $1 options out there.

Raj’s Rockets

QB – (K) Romo (23), P. Manning (19), Flacco (12), Cutler (6)

With the Mannings news…. I still like this pick. At the time I didn’t love it. As I said I don’t think Peyton plays this year, but worst case scenerio he is a great keeper for next year at 19. If he does play, Peyton and Romo are a nice combo. Speaking of Romo I think applying the keeper tag here was a great move. He would have gone 30+ maybe even 40 in our draft. To back up those guys we have Flacco and Culter who are both solid #2 starters in my book. If the stars align both of these guys could climb into the top 10. I really like the depth and upside of this position.

RB – (K) Blount (2), Wells (21), Thomas (9), LT (2)

Blount is another great keeper. I see him more as a #2 than a #1 RB but he certainly has high upside. Wells on the other hand I hate. He is not good. I don’t care if there is no real back up in Arizona. The guy stinks. Thomas is the rookie in Miami who isn’t any good either. I could be wrong, since I actually haven’t seen him play, but everything I have read said he looks tentative. Some even said he does not look like an NFL player. That is not good news. LT for 2, he could repeat the magic of last season. Well, the magic he had the first half of the season. Depth is needed badly here.

WR – Rice (13), Austin (34), Harvin (14), Maclin (20), Garcon (5), Crabtree (4)

I really wanted to pull the trigger on Austin. In retrospect I wish I would have. He is still a number 1 reciever despite Dez Bryant looking like a break out candidate. Speaking of high upside depth, Rice, Harvin, and Maclin are all the same player to me. #2 WR options who would not shock me if they finish in the top 8. Personally I would try to move one of them for some RB depth. I don’t really like Gacon or Crabtree but wouldn’t be shocked if either had a break out season. Again, if the depth at this postion could be turned into one more quality RB I see a successful playoff run this year and a lot of keepers for next season.

TE – (K) Whitten (11) is a great value here. Top 3 at his postion for 11. Not bad at all.

Rollin with Bollin

QB – (K) Bradford (4), (K) Freeman (5), McNabb (8), Smith (3)

I love the keepers here. Bradford and Freeman are about the same fantasy player to me. Neither has a ton of weapons but both have a lot of talent. McNabb could be a great safety net in one of the young guns underperforms or is injured. I really like him at 8. Alex Smith stinks every year and every year before week 1 we all think that perhaps, just maybe he puts it all together this year. Then we realize that he stinks and move on. Well Bollin is rolling the dice again here, at least its only 3 bucks

RB – Grant (32), Matthews (19), Law Firm (18), Stewart (6), Torian (2)

This team had it all going for them. Then Bollin went and screwed it up. Come on Bollin, I expected better. $32 for Grant. I had him listed at $5 on my sheet. THE GUY ALMOST GOT CUT. Starks is the running back you want in Green Bay, not this bum. Molly should smack you upside the head for pulling the trigger on this guy. Next, Ryan Matthews. He stinks. He is not good. He is injury prone. He is bad. Green-Ellis had a great season last year. If anyone wants to bet the over on 8 games of double digit fantasy points (that was his number last year) I’m listening. I guess Stewart would be okay if Williams is injured. Ryan Torian… I actually like him for 2. So dissapointed in you Kris.

WR – (K) White (33), Wallace (36), Roy Williams (2), Breaston (7), Ford (3)

Roddy White is a stud. Team him up with Wallace and you have yourself a great 1/2 combo. The problem of course is that we start 3 recievers. Roy Williams is horrible. I know he only went for 2 but you would have to pay me to draft that bum. Breaston is a decent flyer. I think he could have a big year. Jacoby Ford is also a nice little sleeper for 3.

Other – Daniels (6) was injured most of last year and for 6 is worth the gamble here.

STEVE LIVE DOMINATION

QB – (K) CASSEL (5), FITZPATRICK (9), HENNE (3)

THE CASSEL INJURY DOES NOT BOTHER ME. IT MIGHT HURT A BIT IF HE DOESNT PLAY WEEK ONE BUT I THINK HE WILL BE SOLID THIS YEAR. FITZ IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE QB SLEEPERS THIS YEAR. I WISH HE WERE ON MY TEAM BUT I JUST DIDNT HAVE THE MONEY WHEN HE WENT OFF THE BOARD. BOLD PREDICTION – FITZPATRICK FINISHES THE YEAR WITH MORE FANTASY POINTS THAN EITHER MANNING BROTHER. HENNE STINKS. I KEEP THINKING HE WILL BE GOOD BUT HE NEVER IS.

RB – RICE (67), THOMAS (7), JONES (2), TOLBERT (11), R. WILLIAMS (1)

RAY RICE WILL BE A MONSTER THIS YEAR. HE CLAIMS HE IS GOING TO BE GETTING THE GOAL LINE CARRIES THIS YEAR. IF THAT IS TRUE I HAVE NO PROBLEM PROJECTING HIM AS A TOP 3 RB THIS YEAR. PIERRE THOMAS, FIGHTING ILLINI, IS AWESOME. THE NEWS OF HIS FANTASY DEATH HAS BEEN GROSSLY OVERRATED. THE GUY IS STILL A STUD. INGRAM IS NOT THAT GOOD. THOMAS WILL FINISH THE YEAR WITH THE MOST POINTS BY A SAINTS RUSHER, NO QUESTION. THOMAS JONES HOWEVER IS OLD. I RESPECT WHAT THE GUY DID LAST YEAR FOR THE CHIEFS BUT HE CANT DO IT AGAIN. TOLBERT WILL BE GREAT THIS YEAR. BOLLIN SHOULD OFFER YOU MATTHEWS TO YOU STRAIGHT UP FOR HIM AND YOU SHOULD THEN PROCEDE TO LAUGH AT HIM. NOT REALLY SURE WHAT YOU WERE THINKING WITH THE RICKY WILLIAMS PICK. BETTER OPTIONS WERE OUT THERE FOR A BUCK.

WR – (K) BESS (1), A. JOHNSON (70), BOLDIN (13), EVENS (4), EDWARDS (1)

I LIKE BESS A LOT IN MIAMI EVEN WITH HENNE AS THE QB. WOULD HAVE BEEN A LOT BETTER IF THEY WOULD HAVE MADE THE TRADE FOR ORTON. YOU STOLE MY ANDRE JOHNSON. I THINK YOU OVERSPENT FOR A GUY WHO SPENT A LOT OF THE SEASON INJURED LAST YEAR BUT HE IS A FANTASY STUD. BOLDIN IS A GUY I WAS TARGETING THIS YEAR. I THINK YOU DID VERY WELL TO GRAB HIM AT 13. EVENS IS YET ANOTHER GUY THAT WAS ON MY LIST. I CHOOSE THE UPSIDE OF BROWN OVER EVENS BUT AGAIN I THINK YOU DID WELL HERE. TO FINISH THINGS OFF YOU GRABBED A GREAT LOTTERY PICK IN EDWARDS. I RECALL 3 YEARS AGO THAT HE WAS CONSIDERED A TOP 5 PICK. HE IS OBVIOUSLY NOT THAT ANY MORE BUT CERTAINLY HAS SKILLS.

OTHER – WINSLOW (2), MILLER (2), (K) RAVENS (1) THE TES ARE FINE. LOVE THE FACT THAT ONE OF YOUR KEEPERS WAS A DEFENSE. HOPEFULLY YOU WILL HAVE MORE TO WORK WITH NEXT YEAR.

That does it boys and girls. Hope you enjoyed it.

The big night has come and gone. IT’s time to break it down, team by team, player by player. This may take a while. The teams are listed in the order that they were sent to me by ESPN. The order does not represent my predictions for the season.

Peoria Juiced Penguins

QB – Brady (48), Hasselbeck (8), Sanchez (3)

I feel like Brady was an okay buy at 48. I wasn’t planning on buying a big name QB but I was unable to get one of the two WRs I wanted so I had to distribute money to other areas. It would not shock me if Hasselbeck ends up being a top 10 QB by the end of the year, although he could end up getting injured in week 1 as well. I hated the Sanchez pick when it happened, as you all witnessed during the draft but in retrospect I don’t mind it. He is going to be a top 20 QB who should play the whole year, 3 for that production isn’t horrible. I was considering drafting Grossman with me last pick but I thought my weakness at WR necessitated another lottery pick at that position.

RB – (K) Charles (25), (K) Hillis (11), (K) Bradshaw (14), Jacobs (6), Spiller (5)

Obviously RB is the strength of my team. Charles is a consensus top 5 RB. I am planning on riding him to greatness. Hillis finished, without looking it up, top 5 at his position last year, although I am worried about him a but this year. I had Bradshaw as a keeper but felt Jacobs was a good value at 6 to back him up. I think in good match-ups I could even start both of these guys. Spiller is on my roster yet again. He burned me last year but for 5 I felt he was a good lottery ticket.

WR – Bowe (26), Jones (14), Meachum (4), Brown (3), Benn (7), Collie (7)

So I screwed up in the draft and went 7 for Benn when I really didn’t need to. If the guy does break out this year I could have saved myself 4 buck by drafting him at 3, I think someone would have bud 2 just to piss me off, instead of 7. I will be down on my knees this year praying for production out of Bowe. If the guy performs as a #1 WR I could have a great team, if he doesn’t I might be screwed and I hate having my season ride on Bowe. I overspent on Jones at 14. I expect him to be similar to Dez Bryant 2010, which wasn’t great but as a keeper for 2012 he could be a great value. I drafted Brown as another lottery ticket at this postion. My hope is that one of him or Benn will break out. I loved Collie before Manning went down. I realize a lot of his value is tied to Manning but I had him valued at 15 before the Manning news so 7 felt like good value. Meachum at 4 was my favorite pick of the draft. He will be a top 10 WR this year. You heard me, TOP 10.

Other – I spent 17 on Finley at TE. With guys like Hernandez and others going undrafted I think we might have to go two TEs next year. Depth at the TE position is much better this year but I felt like there are 3 difference makers at the position this year. Gates, Finley, and Whitten are my top 3 in that order. I had Clark as #2 but without Manning you just don’t know what is going to happen. I felt like I had the money to spend so why not go after a guy who could give my team a competitive advantage against most teams.

All Stars On Paper

QB – Rodgers (65), Hill (1)

Well Rodgers is really good, #1 on my board. I don’t think I have to say much more on him. Hill is not a starter, he is not even back up QB in fantasy. With no other QBs on the roster and nothing on the waiver wire ASOP is going to be at a disadvantage all year long.

RB- (K) Mcfadden (4), Turner (49), Williams (34), Bush (4), Tate (1), Taylor(1)

I am not buying McFadden this year. I know he had a great season last year but I smell an injury coming, although if he manages to stay healthy he should end up as a top 10 guy. Turner was my least favorite pick of the draft. I hate him. I had him listed as an 18 player and he went for 49. I just don’t see it, especially in a PPR league. Williams got a big contract in the offseason. I am not sure how motivated he will be on a horrible Panthers team this year. You have to expect opposing defenses to put 8 or 9 men in the box on every first and second down this year. Saying all that, at 34 I don’t think it is a bad buy. Michael Bush was a great handcuff (although he will play even if McFadden is healthy) pick. I really like Bush as a goal line back and he could be a great value if McFadden goes down. I really like the upside of Tate, but I have to worry about a guy that could not beat out Hines Ward for second on the depth chart. I believe Chester Taylor is now in Arizona, I could be wrong. No matter what team he plays for he stinks so I don’t think it matters. The problem I have with the guy is that he has no upside. You need to be going after guys with upside for a buck not the Chester Taylors of the world.

WR – (K) Johnson (30), (K) Jackson (4), Williams (1), Goodson (1) ?, Bosher (1) ?

I have to be honest. I do not have the internet hooked up at the moment and I have no idea who Goodson and Bosher are. Since there are only 3 other WRs on the roster I am assuming they are wide outs. I am also assuming that by admitting that I have no clue who these guys are that they will be fantasy starts this year, well done. Megatron is obviously a stud. I really love him if Stafford stays healthy. A very nice keeper even at 30. Vincent Jackson should also be great this year. The lesser of the Mike Williams is also on this team, I don’t really like the guy but there wan’t much left by the time he went off the board. This position is very top heavy.

Other – Gronkowski was the pick at TE here. I really like the guy but with Hernandez also on the Patriots the upside just isn’t there.

Pop King’s Doc

QB – Garrard (1), Tebow (1)

Fantasy God had to leave early so he went Stars and Scrubs. The QB position fell into the scrubs category. Garrard is not on a roster as I write this and Tebow is 3rd on the Broncos depth chart. I don’t know what more to say about this position.

RB – (K) Jones (12), AP (82), Gore (55), Benson (17), Harrison (1), Sproles (1)

We all love AP and perhaps with McNabb at QB there will not be so many defenders in the box. It appears to me that Lance will need to trade AP to create a starting QB and WR depth. Gore may also be trade bait. Personally I really like Gore this year but Lance will have to make some moves if he is going to have any chance at making the playoffs. Benson I believe is in jail as I write this, which is never a good sign. Harrison is in a back up role but could have some value down the line. I have no idea what Sproles will do in N the Big Easy. I would project Reggie Bush lite like numbers which might not be the worst thing in a PPR league.

WR – (K) Holmes (7), K Britt (3), Simpson (1), Dixon (1)

Britt and Holmes are fairly solid keepers. I think we know what to expect out of those two. Lower #1/ high #2 fantasy starters in a ppr league. The problem is that we start 3 guys in our league. Not really sure who Simpson and Dixon are. That is all I have to say about that.

Other – I really liked Clark before the Manning news. I think the line “I really liked _______ before the Manning news” may be my favorite of the year. At 14 I am not sure he is any better than all the $1 guys that went late.

Neverland Slumber Party

QB – (K) E. Manning (13), Orton (15), Newton (3), McCown (1)

I can’t believe I’m typing this but With the Manning news I believe that Eli is the top Manning QB in fantasy this year. I’m not sure that is saying a whole lot but he is a solid #2 starter in a 2 QB league. Orton was my favorite QB last year. I rode him to the playoffs before he was benched to Tebow. The only problem I see is that he cost 15 this year which may be too much. If the Broncos stumble out of the gate Orton could be out of a job by week 7. This is a sticky situation. If the Broncos stink early he could be traded to another team where he could start. The problem is that if we get past the trade deadline the guy might be useless for the 2nd half of the season. I hate all things Newton. I hate Isaac Newton, gravity shmavity. I hate Fig Newtons, who the hell thinks making cookies out of figs was a good idea. I hate Cam Newton, stupid cheater. McCown might start for Jax for 3 or 4 weeks. The better fit would have been the rookie here, I think it’s Gabbord since Orton is also a question for the end of the year.

RB – (K) McCoy (24), Best (24), Starks (15), Helu (1)

I am still not sold on McCoy. You can give me all the numbers you want about this guy but once Vick gets hurt every team is going to line up 9 men in the box and he is going to be destroyed. I love Best this year and to be honest I loved him last year as well. At 24 I think he may end up being one of the best buys of the draft. I was looking at my sheet and had him listed at 25. I am really not sure why I did not throw out a bid on this guy. I also love starks. To be fair, I loved him as a 5-10 sleeper, but even at 15 I think he is a great value. Grant is done. The guy was almost cut from the Packers during training camp. 15 for the starting Green Bay RB is one heck of a deal. I liked Helu early in the pre-season but it appears that he is now third on the depth chart in Washington. This team really needs to add some depth at the RB postion.

WR – (K) Bryant (8), Fitz (51), Marshall (28), Moore (5), Amendola (9), Burleson (1)

What a waste of a keeper for an $8 Dez Bryant. You should trade the bum, I will help you out with an offer if you want that bum off your team. I was really upset when the bidding went for over 45 on Fitz. I thought I could get the guy at that price. I believe I had a 50 bid on Fitz, but you just had to spend that extra dollar. I honestly believe that Fitz will be the #1 fantasy receiver this season. Kolb has to be better than the garbage the Cardinals called QBs last year. I wanted Marshall as well but at 28 I thought he was heavily overpriced. He was the last of the WRs in my #2 tier to go off the board. Nice pick up for a guy who could be a top ten WR but I still think 28 is too high. Lance Moore is already out for week 1. I simply see Meachum passing Moore up this year for the Saints. Amendola was on my WR sleeper list as well as Burleson. I think both guys have the potential to be very productive this season. Very nice strength at the top and depth at this position. You’ve got my number, hit me up on the trade line.

Other – Pettigrew is the TE here which is fine for a buck.

Pika Boooooooo

QB – (K) Vick (31), Stafford (19), McCoy (9)

I really did like Ali before this draft, but not anymore. I am pretty sure he broke into my house and stole my cheat sheet. Every player I was going after Ali was there bidding him up. Anyway, Vick seems to be on the trade block. So much has been said about this guy that I think everyone has an opinion one way or the other. Stafford was one of my favorite players in the draft. I really wanted him. I thought my 12 ranking would be enough to land him, but Ali just had to throw his money around and go up to 19. Although it is 7 more than my listed price I feel regret not going after this guy. He could very easily end up as a top 7 QB and in our format that is huge. McCoy is another guy that I really like. At the time he was drafted I only had 5 to spend for a QB. He does not have the upside that Stafford has because he really doesn’t have any weapons but I still like him as a solid #2.

RB – (K) Foster (18), Hightower (18), R. Bush (24), F. Jackson (12), Ward (3), McGahee (6)

I didn’t like Foster before the injury concerns and now I really hate him. I felt that he wore down at the end of the year. He smells like a guy who could be a one year wonder. Timmy Hightower however is a guy who I am really high on. I don’t think he has ever been given the chance to be the go to guy. This year it appears he has that chance in Washington. I feel like that offense might be explosive and Hightower could be a big part of that. Reggie Bush has been on my team every year, but I never went crazy and bid 24 for him. I know he has been named the starter in Miami but is that really a good thing? If the guy could not put up all-star numbers for the Saints how is he going to do it for a terrible Miami offense? I like the guy as a $5 lottery ticket but 24 is insane. Since I drafted Spiller I am hoping that Jackson sucks this year, but I actually like the guy. Ward stinks. McGahee stinks.

WR – (K) Nicks (10), S. Moss (9), S. Smith (car) (12), Green (9), Little (1)

I have finally found the kryptonite of Ali’s team. Oh wait, I really like these guys. Damn it. Nicks is a stud. A $10 keeper price is great for him. He could be the new Megatron. S. Moss is going to be a part of that explosive Redskins offense I mentioned earlier. At 9 he is a steal. I think Smith is done but at 12 he is a decent value. Green may not be good this year since there is no starting QB in Cincy but he is one heck of a keeper value at 9. Little was on my sleeper list so you know I like that pick.

Other – At TE Graham (6) could easily finish the year as a top ten TE. Very nice value.

Bed Intruders

QB – (K) Ryan (10), (K) Roethlisberger (10), Gabbert (1), Young (1), Palmer (1)

The starters here are solid and it cost Alex two keepers in Ryan and Big Ben. I really like both of these guys going into the season. The Falcons seem to be moving to a more pass heavy offense in which Ryan should flourish. Big Ben may be one of the more underrated fantasy QBs and he has a ton of weapons this year. Forget about the WRs on the Steelers we know, they also have Sanders (who is on this team) and Brown who would start for just about every other team in the NFL. 3 one dollar lottery picks finish off the QB position. I would not predict any of these guys to be productive this year but I would imagine that one of the 3 will hit and you can simply cut the other guys. I like the strategy.

RB – MJD (61), Jackson (56), Ingram (12)

I only see 3 RBs on this team and one of them is a rookie. MJD appears to be beyond his injury but I don’t trust him especially without Garrard. Garrard does not set the world on fire but opposing defenses will not even have to respect the pass against the Jags this season. Jackson is a guy I really like this year. I thought he would go for a lot less than 56 this year. The sense I get is that people no longer like the guy but I guess I was wrong. Ingram is a guy I would pay 12 in standard leagues but in a ppr he does not have that kind of value. Apparently I missed the memo that said Pierre Thomas was dead.

WR – (K) S. Johnson (5), Wayne (27), Burress (8), Branch (2), Driver (1), Sanders (1)

Stevie Johnson is one of my favorite WRs this year. I think he could end up as a top ten guy, at worst he is a solid #2. Here we go again… I didn’t like Wayne before the “Peyton Manning News” and now I really hate him. I know WR was a little thin when he was drafted last night but I honestly feel Collie finishes the season with more fantasy points than Wayne this season. Plaxico is a decent value at 8. He is going to be a rock star or a bum and I lean toward rock star. One of the washed up old guys, Branch and Driver, could come through this year. Branch had some very nice games last year after going to NE. With the short off-season and Tate getting cut Branch may be one of Brady’s favorite targets. Sanders was a guy I really liked before the shortened training camp and injury. I have since moved towards Brown as my sleeper Steeler WR but Sanders could be special when he comes back.

Other – Cooley for a buck at TE could have nice value.
